LifeSpot offers two platforms for college campuses

College campuses are increasingly in the news as the target of active shooter threats.  LifeSpot's method of calling for help is the best way to protect a campus.  But with the unique challenges posed by large campuses with many buildings and people, often spread out over a large area, LifeSpot offers colleges and universities an additional student platform in combination with the LifeSpot main platform, to help students stay informed during an emergency.

LifeSpot for teachers and staff

LifeSpot for students

The LifeSpot College Student Version is a specialized  feature of the LifeSpot platform designed to keep college students informed during active shooter situations. It provides real-time alerts, progress notifications, and messages from law enforcement to help students stay safe and make informed decisions during a live shooter event.

Receive instant alerts of an active shooter threat.

Stay informed with progress notifications, such as law enforcement arrival and threat resolution.

View messages directly from law enforcement for accurate and timely updates.

To maintain focus and prevent misuse, students cannot start alerts or message directly with law enforcement. This ensures that emergency responders are not overwhelmed and can act efficiently.

LifeSpot empowers college students with essential, life-saving information to navigate emergencies with confidence and clarity.

Frequently Asked Questions about LifeSpot for Colleges and Universities

How is the student version different from the primary LifeSpot platform?
The main LifeSpot platform allows authorized personnel to start alerts and enables two-way communication with law enforcement. The college student version is an additional capability that lives within a university's LifeSpot platform.  It focuses solely on students' ability to receive information, ensuring students stay informed without adding potential complications to the emergency response process.

How does LifeSpot help support emergency responders?
LifeSpot ensures that critical information reaches emergency responders quickly, reducing response times and providing them with the details needed to act effectively. This coordinated approach supports a smoother, more efficient response to emergencies. On college campuses, where there are often many buildings and people spread out over a large area, LifeSpot is crucial for emergency responders to help them locate the location of an active shooter threat and reach the injured as fast as possible.

Can my college just purchase the student version without the main LifeSpot platform?
No, the LifeSpot student version is an additional platform for students, but requires the main LifeSpot platform for it to work on your campus.

What features does the student version include?

  • Instant alerts about an active shooter threat.

  • Progress updates, such as when law enforcement is en route, on-site, or when the threat has ended.

  • Direct messages from law enforcement for accurate and reliable updates.

What features are not included in the student version?
To ensure the effectiveness and reliability of emergency response, the college student version does not allow:

  • Students to start an alert. This helps to avoid potential pranks, false alarms, misuse, or non-emergency triggers.

  • Direct messaging with law enforcement to prevent the risk of overwhelming officers with messages during a crisis.

.

Why can’t students directly message law enforcement?
Direct messaging could result in law enforcement being flooded with non-critical information during an emergency, potentially hindering their ability to respond efficiently. Restricting this feature helps maintain a streamlined and effective communication flow.

How does the LifeSpot student version enhance safety during an emergency?
This version keeps students informed with real-time updates, enabling them to take appropriate safety measures and stay aware of the evolving situation. This communication provides students with peace of mind and helps ensure they receive trustworthy, timely information.

Can parents or non-student community members use the student version?
The college student version is specifically designed for enrolled college students within the geofenced location of the college or university.  At this time there is no platform for parents and friends.
